The University Fernando Pessoa’s Architecture and Urbanism course have long been tarred with an eminently practical teaching methodology. This practice is primarily focused on the development of a ‘project’, suitably informed and legitimized according to a transdisciplinary perspective of knowledge. The evaluation of the ‘project’ refers to the evaluation of the ‘procedure’, so that the research and the student work, inside and outside the classroom, as a whole, are inseparable from the skills acquired by the student and hence determining the quality of their future professional practice.
In Master in Architecture and Urbanism of the UFP, in addition to an effective training in the classroom, students are faced with the development of project activities, study and monitoring of real projects, assuming early on an active role in society.
The “studies and projects lab” (LEP) of the University Fernando Pessoa, presents itself as a privileged stage for this confrontation, allowing the creation of a whole set of systemic inter-relationships between research activities, the teaching, the learning and simultaneously the approach to the architect profession act.
